The Bujinkan is replete with experienced instructors who teach and train in the Midwest region of the United States. Now more than ever, it is important for the Bujinkan community to interact and share ideas, experiences, and information in support of each other. The annual Midwest Tai Kai is the vision of the Dayton Bujinkan Dojo and was realized in 2008. The 3rd Annual 2010 Midwest Bujinkan Tai Kai will be held in Ann Arbor, Michigan, close to the University of Michigan Campus. As the previous two Midwest Tai Kai (2008 - Dayton, OH and 2009 - Madison, WI) aspired to previously, the 2010 Midwest Tai Kai aims at building a sense of community among Bujinkan practitioners in the Midwest area (and the United States) while offering the highest level of instruction, knowledge, and experience. We have invited 12-15 Bujinkan shihan and shidoshi volunteer instructors from the Midwest area with a broad range of understanding and training approaches. This year's Midwest Bujinkan Tai Kai will focus on the instructors' understanding of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu and the Bujinkan yearly theme of "rokkonshoujou" (禄魂笑浄). The instructors are free to teach unarmed taijutsu, defenses against multiple opponents, weapons, etc. The emphasis of this Midwest Tai Kai will be moving freely and adapting naturally to any given situation. The date chosen for this year's Midwest Tai Kai is August 6th - 8th, 2010. It will be held at the Ann Arbor Marriott Ypsilanti Eagle Crest Resort in nearby Ypsilanti, Michigan. The location of the Tai Kai changes each year to a different region in the Midwest to allow the greatest proliferation and exchange of training and ideas and builds personal connections all across the Midwest and the country. All of the instructors are unpaid volunteers who agree to the vision and mission of the Midwest Bujinkan Tai Kai. All revenue for the Midwest Tai Kai pays for the venue and related services. All profits will be donated to Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi and the Bujinkan Honbu Dojo in the name of each participant. The spirit of community and commitment to its growth is one of the most unique and special aspects of the Midwest Tai Kai Philosophy! Hatsumi Soke directs us to train correctly with good people who have good hearts. Please come together with us and celebrate the vision of the Midwest Bujinkan Tai Kai! |
